Looking for a good stretch mark solution can be both a very challenging and frustrating experience. Since people’s skins are unique, not all methods have the same level of effectiveness. Discover the facts about different solutions and see what solution will work best for you.

Fact #1: Stretch mark solution advice will depend on who is giving it.

Different people have different views on how to best remove stretch mark. For example, your dermatologist may suggest that a dermabrasion session is the best solution for you while your surgeon may suggest surgery. In truth, every stretch mark solution option have their advantages and disadvantages.

Dermabrasion may be less effective than surgery but on the other hand, it is a less invasive solution. Dermabrasion may simply be described as a more drastic form of skin exfoliation where very fine wires rapidly spin across your skin, getting rid of dead skin cells to make room for new skin. However, this does not directly address the problem of stretch mark since stretch marks develop from the inner layers of the skin.

Surgery is actually a more effective stretch mark solution but it is also riskier, more invasive, more expensive and may not work for all parts of the body. At present, abdominal stretch marks are the only ones that can be solved by a tummy tuck. This stretch mark solution however can give you weeks of pain and discomfort and may even lead to infections and a larger, more visible external skin scar.

Fact #2: The least invasive stretch mark solution is to leave the marks as they are.

There are also some people who will advise you to simple avoid doing anything or applying anything on the stretch mark scars since these may eventually fade over time. However, this wait-and-see stretch mark solution would mean that you have to wait and possibly waste some of the best years of your life until the stretch marks simply fade. In addition to waiting, there is also the possibility that you gain more weight over time and thus, instead of diminishing the scars, time and more weight will only add more to it.

You can also simply wear one piece suits to the beach. That would however, most likely remove part of the fun of being at the beach. In the beach, you’d want to naturally show off a bit or just be yourself without feeling conscious about other people staring at you.

Fact #3: Practical and natural solutions do not always eliminate stretch marks permanently but they are the safest and most active way to get rid of stretch marks.

Instead of blowing your money over risky medical procedures that are not even guaranteed stretch mark solutions, you can try the natural way. One natural stretch mark solution is to watch your weight. This may sometimes be difficult though since you may not always be able to perfectly limit body expansion especially if you are pregnant. You can always try your best though to maintain a regular diet and keep your self hydrated.

One other natural stretch mark solution is to exercise. Aerobic exercises improve blood circulation and help in the proper distribution of oxygen and nutrients to the different cells in the body. This may help maintain your skin’s elasticity and general health. Other forms of exercise however, such as muscle building exercises, may result in more stretch marks due to muscle expansion.

To achieve the best possible result, take a natural supplement along with your natural stretch mark solution in order to provide your skin with nutrients that may be lacking from your diet.

Fact #1: Stretch mark solution advice will depend on who you’re asking.

Many people can offer you lots of suggestions for a good stretch mark solution. Your dermatologist may suggest a dermabrasion session while your surgeon may say that surgery is the best solution. The truth is, both solutions have their pros and cons.

Dermabrasion is honestly less effective than surgery but it is also less invasive. In a sense, it is simply a more drastic form of skin exfoliation. Rapidly spinning fine wires move over your skin and peel off dead skin cells so new ones can develop. This is hardly a good stretch mark solution because stretch marks are really inner skin or dermis scars. Dermabrasion also opens you up to the risk of further skin damage and can even make stretch marks worse.

Others suggest that you simply refrain from doing anything or applying anything on the scars since time may eventually result in naturally faded scars. This wait and see stretch mark solution however would mean that you have to spend the best years of your life not wearing a bikini, tank tops and mini shorts. Time is also not a guarantee that stretch marks will disappear because you can increase in weight through time, which can make stretch marks worse.

You can also simply wear one piece suits to the beach. That would however, most likely remove part of the fun of being at the beach. In the beach, you’d want to naturally show off a bit or just be yourself without feeling conscious about other people staring at you.

Microdermabrasion has revolutionised they in which stretch marks are managed. This procedure has been shown to decrease the appearance of those unwanted marks. Ladies and gentlemen, please continue reading to understand how this can be achieved.

The formation of stretch marks:

At present, there is a common misnomer that they also known as striae distensae) arise due to the overstretching of skin which is associated with pregnancy and growth spurts. However, this is untrue and the scientific reason behind the formation of these is based upon the high blood circulating levels of glucocorticoids (hormones) which are secreted by the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are situated bilaterally and are found on top of the upper pole of the kidney.

Glucocorticoids tend to be released in excess during pregnancy, obesity, weight lifting and Cushing’s disease. Striae distensae can also arise due to the chronic oral intake of steroids (such as prednisolone) which propel the formation of these unwanted marks on the skin. Topical steroid creams have also been proven to initiate the formation of these marks and in some cases, frequent use should be avoided.

Fibroblasts are cells that are involved in laying down collagen (connective tissue) in skin tissue so that the skin remains strong and possess an adequate degree of elasticity. During the normal skin cycle, fibroblasts lay down collagen to replace what is lost from the skin; this is called physiological skin remodelling. This process also occurs when skin is injured; fibroblasts lay down collagen to bridge the gap between cracked skin, eventually allowing the collagen to amalgamate with normal skin, hence forming a continuum.

Unfortunately, when circulating blood levels of glucocorticoids are high, the fibroblasts are inhibited thus inhibiting the normal remodelling of skin. Ultimately, this leads to the decreased thickness of skin with abnormal or lack of collagen deposits in the skin resulting in the formation of stretch marks.

The use of Microdermabrasion for scar reduction:

Microdermabrasion has been shown to be effective in reducing the appearance of skin marks; especially for those stubborn old white marks that do not seem to disappear with different cream formulations and various other treatment modalities.

Many microscopic studies have supported the fact that Microdermabrasion can help in reducing the appearance of stretch marks. The procedure can be performed in many beautician as well as plastic surgery clinics. Results are usually seen after 6 sessions of Microdermabrasion applied to the area where the marks are present. Many studies have also shown that with the use of high concentration Vitamin E & A creams, coupled with Microdermabrasion, cosmetic results are very impressive!

If you have stretch marks which you have been trying to get rid of for months or even years, look no further , for Microdermabrasion may be the answer to making those annoying marks memories of the past!

Some of the most frequent complaint of women about child birth is not about the birthing process in itself, it’s the stretch marks that bother most of all and more women are investing and searching for ways to remove them. Certainly preventing the skin from stretching due to pregnancy cannot be prevented which adds more anxiety to most women especially when several surgical procedures said to eliminate stretch marks completely tend to be painful, costly and requires longer recovery period.

Microdermabrasion offers these anxious women a sure-fire and painless alternative.

Microdermabrasion is a process that abrades the topmost skin layer and gradually removing the dead skin that is both scarred and discolored. The effectiveness of microdermabrasion as treatment for the removal of stretch marks can be proven microscopically. The treatment of stretch marks may be performed in a dermatologist, cosmetic surgery clinics, spas and even high end aesthetician clinics. It can even be tried in the convenience of your home using effective microdermabrasion home kits.

The challenge for the process of microdermabrasion is stretch marks that are old and have become hard, stubborn and tough. Several sessions will be required before these scars are totally eradicated. Since microdermabrasion machines have several adjustable speed and power, the re-surfacing device that comes with the machine massages the upper most layers of the scarred tissues, stimulating circulation of the blood, softening the area to allow the emulsions packed with nutrients and specific ingredients that will penetrate deeply onto the skin and slowly ridding the skin of blemishes, spots and therefore making the skin more pliable and smoother to the touch.

The microdermabrasion machine also releases ultrasonic frictional heat which increases and accelerates circulation, promoting muscle relaxation and even burning of cellulites and break down of fat. The treatment and rubbing off of damaged cells will gently dissolve skin lesions and reduce scars and remove superficial flaws. It will also destroy pathogens and create right environment for the regeneration of normal collagen and healthy skin. Likewise, the specially prepared emulsion will nourish the skin with antioxidants that have been depleted by stress and protect the skin from oxidative damage due to free radicals thereby improving elasticity, increases density and moisture retention capacity of the skin.

After treatment lotions with lipid enhancers may be needed to continually moisturize and enhance the penetration of products into the skin to stimulate rapid reproduction of renewed cells. The positive results of stretch marks among women have not only helped women regain their self-esteem but it has also given them more confidence to face daily challenges everyday.

Queenie asked:

Hi any beauty therapists out there,
I bought a Roc microdermabrasion kit which I used once a week for a deep exfoliation. Then I bought strivectin cream which I use on my face (not for its intended use of stretch marks) I love the strivectin and have noticed a difference in skin tone and texture, I just havn’t used both together. I was worried it may be to much, any one know anything about this. My skin is fair, small pores, a bit dry not very sensitive and I am 37. I know the main ingredient in strivectin is palmitoyl pentapeptide 4 can anyone help before I try it and get a mad reaction.

I have VERY deep stretch marks on the inside of my thighs. I was wondering if medical insurance would cover for it. Also, how much would it cost to do a 4in by 2 in area. I’m sick of looking at them, and I’m not liking the results from the creams that I am using.

I gained weight recently and developed horrendous, ugly stretch marks on my bottom, hips, and inner thighs. They really bother me and I want to get rid of them (no words of consolation can make me like them more). Do dermabrasion and laser treatments work?
